How To Spot A Fake Poet From Lines Away

False Poets????

surprised-man-looking-at-his-left_1149-1195

Yes…Believe it or not false poets are out there but we are often so caught up in our own little worlds that they become invisible.

But the questions is ‘Who is a false poet/writer?’

A person who….

Hahaha thought I was going to tell but I want you all to find that out for yourself. Drop your comments below.

Moving on…. lets get to juicy part of things

Ways in which a person can be seen as a false poet/writer

Stealing the works of others –  In other words PLAGIARISM!!!! demeaning the value of someone else’s work by claiming that its your own without even giving any credit to the author. My! I wonder how people do it and still feel good about themselves hmmmm.

Another thing is writing just to impress someone. Maybe you don’t think you are talented enough to write a piece of your own but if you take another person’s work source it!!

Stealing ideas

Writing anything that comes to mind and calls it art just for the money – This commonality isn’t just opened to poets but writers as well get caught up too. You could be a poet but putting numbers on a page and calling it a poem is ridiculous. Then again you could be a writer and binding blank pages with no cover and calling it a book is even worst all in the name of art. This certainly isn’t fooling anyone but yourself.

Money shouldn’t be your ultimate goal when writing but embracing your art and adding value to people lives should matter more. Its not all about the money young writers!!!

Yes after putting in tons of hard work you would want to see some monetary returns but don’t let rise to your head.

Money

The Rich overusing their power –  This point may turn some heads but its a fact. The ‘High Class’ people as some may say, misuse their power just to make a name for themselves. But how is that fair to the people who are actually working hard and trying to live their dream. Not because your family may be billionaires or have a well recognized name gives anyone the right to overuse that power when the area you are forcing isn’t your field of expertise. Its not just unfair but wrong to the persons who toil day in and day out to honestly make a difference in this world.

Inspirations

Introducing Old Inspirations With A Stronger Drive

“Behind every successful writer there were a list of inspirations” – Unknown

This facet can never be overlooked guys. Many times people underestimate our abilities because they don’t know where we have come from but its our job to remember the inspirations that got us to where we are today. So without further a due I give you a list of my early inspirations from books to TV shows, movies and much more.

Summer of us – Holly Chamberlin

I read this book in 2015 and found it incredibly amazing. Each character had a subtle way of growing on me though individually they were very different. The unique relationship they developed over one  summer was remarkable since they were strangers at the beginning.

Lesson Learnt: Well in my opinion every lesson would vary for each character but as a writer I loved the complexity Holly developed while still keeping the reader connected with everything that was happening throughout the entire story.

Sisterhood of the traveling pants series – Ann Brashares

My most admired author wrote this young adult book in 2001. Before becoming eclectically balanced I was a dedicated reader of the adventure genre. This series always made me miss home during my teen years but I also enjoy the luxuries of being in the outdoors. In this series Ann used the reflective tone to recount the various experiences of each of the girls’ summer while there were apart. She also used humor and sarcasm as a way to showcase the funnier escapades of the girls.

Lesson Learnt: Value friendships even when things get tough and also remember that there is nothing more important than family.

You may have a hard time collecting the entire series from your local library but you can always watch the movie

There will so be a special blog post up soon giving you an insight into my life and everything that has happened so far. Look out for that….

Are you still with me? If yes lets keep digging into my pocket of inspirations

Have you ever watched the movie A Princess for Christmas?

513mQmgypTL

Writers Janeen Damian and Micheal Damian did a fantastic job in brining out the inner princess in me. I mean its not Christmas yet but boy these movies just unravel all the jolly feelings.

The movie started with Young woman given the responsibility of taking care of her niece and nephew. As the drama continued they journeyed to a castle in Europe where Jules fell unwittingly for Prince Aston. The suspense as the movie trails closer to the end gives me chills every time.

Lesson Learnt: ‘The best relationships start unexpectedly.’ The techniques used here aren’t as clear as day but after detailed research Plausible Alternate Plot and Advanced Foreshaming were the only two that remained consistent throughout the movie.

Bare with me dear readers for film analysis isn’t my strong suit but surely I tried my best to provide you with the most accurate information as I can.

But did you know Aston has oped his game since then? Last I heard he was sleeping with a time traveler

The Big Bang Theory

Oh my I could never get enough of Sheldon!! He is the glue that fits everything together and keeps me laughing all night. I’m sure you’ve see this sitcom before right?

Much of this series is based around science particularly physics. Even in their relationships there has been subtle interferences every now and then.

Lesson Learnt: Well there are too much to mention…..But do share some that you have learnt if you watch as much as I do 🙂

Be sure to check out Young Sheldon!

Glee

Glee-Hi-Res-4
Everything about this TV show gives me chills. I may have watch the entire thing twice but hey who’s counting right.

Mr. Schuster was so optimistic about making the New Directions national champions that they ended up finding their individual strengths, achieved goals and accepted their voices all in the process. But Sue! She was their cheerleading coach always out to sabotage every move they made. The glee club was never out of a challenge.

Lesson Learnt: There is much to be learnt about friendships, relationships and most of all daily realities that young teenagers face.

You want more nuh?? I cant give it though there needs to be space for your inspirations too so I’ll be anxiously waiting.

So Let me know in the comments!!!

What were the first writing tools?

The best part of moving forward is being able to remember where you came from and value that history. Which brings me to today’s topic “What were the first writing tools?”

As young writers we are so inclined to create the next best seller that we often forget how important roots are. Be reminded that learning of the past will keep your mind opened to possibilities and realities of what made the past so iconic.

Imagine if there were no tools to write the world’s greatest ideas? What if those ideas were forgotten and never recorded in history?

Thats how important writing tools were to history and they still are to present day. Even though educationally inclined people have created more advanced ways of documenting there complete oeuvres manual tools have stood the test of time.

Around 3000 BC the scribes were the first to use thin reed brushes to write on papyrus scrolls.

As the times aged the Romans used a metal stylus in which they scribed into thin sheets of wax.

It was until in the 1790’s pencil lead was invented by the Australians and French. After a great amount of Technological advances roller ball pens that were invented in the 1980’s preformed with improvements as time aged.

I believe that opening one’s self to such inspiring information is important when as a young writer you are sharing your work to give feeling and motivation to the readers.

Writer to Poet

Can a writer be a poet?

Can a poet be a writer?

These two questions have been asked so many times by countless young writers that I think it’s my duty to educate my young talented readers on the difference between these two statements based on my own knowledge.

A “writer” is the basic term used to define a person that creates written language. They can produce works from literary art to creative writing to communicate a desired idea. Other skilled writers would use graphics and illustrations to enhance the way there work is showcased to the audience.

Being a writer means you have a desire to open a world of possibilities, opportunities, comfort, learning and much more to readers through written words. Most times there is a burning light within to add excitement using various techniques that trap the mind. But the big question is can a writer be a poet? In my opinion not every writer has the ability to concisely arrange there thoughts to paint a picture, create a mood and unravel real emotions that a poet can, not to say that writing a novel doesn’t create this feeling because it does. Which brings me to a type of writer called ‘novelist’ one who writes novels create plots, invent characters and resolutions that keep the mind engaged throughout. This form of writing stands unique to play writes, screenwriters, speech writers, biographers, editors, researchers, journalist, bloggers and the list goes on. Each of these individuals have specific fields of specialty but generally they are considered writers. In which they can use these talents in different areas and obtain a desired effect on the audience.

On the other hand a poets would describe themselves as a mere writer of poetry that would simply performs their art in front of an audience. They have the ability to make you dream, fantasize and analyze by just using a few words divided into stanzas. They create cognitive effects, exploiting properties and languages to give a cinematic vision in your mind. Can a poet be a writer?  This goes half and half since with the right techniques and expanded vocabulary a poet can create a very mind blowing novella. Many would say that writing a poem is ‘hard’ because of the time taken to create the a specific mood and exhort the correct tone but just like fiction writers with the right use of words in each line, a poem or novel can stand out just the same.

I hope this article shines some light on any blurred lines that you may have about these two questions. Follow this blog for more articles like this

How To Strike Out

“Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game”

Many may be aware of this famous quote that encourages and gives boost to all who are down and out. As writers we should embrace this motto. Make it your cup of sunshine when the clouds are dark and the skies cry water.

Okay every one; let’s start with our key points to remember as we strike out as young writers.

  • Confidence in your work- reading other people’s work. Yes, as silly as it may sound this opens your mind and gives you inspiration from other professional writers. It is my belief that this serves as a confidence boost. Allowing your inner intellect to race past those fears of striking out. Being afraid isn’t a bad thing but it can harm you. If at every time as a writer you keep mediating on the fact that people won’t like your work then it becomes immune to your mental dexterity.
  • Accept constructive criticism- It is often misunderstood by many writers that readers must always like there work but no they don’t. Persons who criticize your work are making it acceptable for them to read and enjoy. So if as a writer you are willing to accept their review and use it as inspiration for future works you produce criticism will come easier to you. As for the kind reviews this shows that your work is appealing to a certain group of people which you should continue to please. But in order to know your strength criticism whether constructive or not all together helps to boost your confidence.
  • Proper Quality, Accuracy and Research when producing work to the public- It is always important that you provide readers with accurate information. Research becomes an important factor. This shows that you study your work in order to feed the public correctly, in this case quality counts over quantity. Editing Objectives such as detection, removal of factual errors and clarification of obscure passages, becomes key techniques used.
