How To Spot A Fake Poet From Lines Away

False Poets????

surprised-man-looking-at-his-left_1149-1195

Yes…Believe it or not false poets are out there but we are often so caught up in our own little worlds that they become invisible.

But the questions is ‘Who is a false poet/writer?’

A person who….

Hahaha thought I was going to tell but I want you all to find that out for yourself. Drop your comments below.

Moving on…. lets get to juicy part of things

Ways in which a person can be seen as a false poet/writer

Stealing the works of others –  In other words PLAGIARISM!!!! demeaning the value of someone else’s work by claiming that its your own without even giving any credit to the author. My! I wonder how people do it and still feel good about themselves hmmmm.

Another thing is writing just to impress someone. Maybe you don’t think you are talented enough to write a piece of your own but if you take another person’s work source it!!

Stealing ideas

Writing anything that comes to mind and calls it art just for the money – This commonality isn’t just opened to poets but writers as well get caught up too. You could be a poet but putting numbers on a page and calling it a poem is ridiculous. Then again you could be a writer and binding blank pages with no cover and calling it a book is even worst all in the name of art. This certainly isn’t fooling anyone but yourself.

Money shouldn’t be your ultimate goal when writing but embracing your art and adding value to people lives should matter more. Its not all about the money young writers!!!

Yes after putting in tons of hard work you would want to see some monetary returns but don’t let rise to your head.

Money

The Rich overusing their power –  This point may turn some heads but its a fact. The ‘High Class’ people as some may say, misuse their power just to make a name for themselves. But how is that fair to the people who are actually working hard and trying to live their dream. Not because your family may be billionaires or have a well recognized name gives anyone the right to overuse that power when the area you are forcing isn’t your field of expertise. Its not just unfair but wrong to the persons who toil day in and day out to honestly make a difference in this world.

Well after reading this article young writers I hope you agree with me that fake people do exist and by extension we need to beware of them.

Please remember to share this with your friends on facebook, twitter and even by email. Thank you for reading

The Truth About Smart Writing Is about To Be Revealed

You must be thinking….Have I come to the right place?

Will I find what I’m looking for at this page?

Well the answer is YES!!! Continue reading and see for yourself…

Its a general misconception countless times that writing smart is tedious and only best sellers can achieve it. But I have a few tips that will help even kids who are adamant about writing.

Be Consistent

The aim of any writer is to remain consistent throughout their career. Ruling out distraction plays a key role in continuous consistency. A schedule or a plan is very important since it enables you to eliminate everything and focus whole heartedly on finishing that book even if its just for a few minutes. For those who write on the go, this may be hard but remember remaining consistent takes hard work and dedication.

Show don’t tell

Its often a custom where we tell the readers whats happening but why not show them? Not to say that we wont tell the story but dig deeper into the feeling behind the action with descriptive words allowing readers to visualize, feel, internalize and experience the story you are telling. Being explicit with detail which will immerse your readers into deep thinking.

Avoid Cliches

‘Washed over’ and ‘over-used’ words – If its been heard already then its a cliche. Make it your own with individuality and uniqueness because there is only one you. Originality should be every writer’s main aim in order to keep their work fresh. Anything that is perfectly acceptable shouldn’t be used in your story. There should be a time where everything is scrambled changing the end view your reader had in mind.

Ask these questions if you ever feel a piece has cliches

  • ‘Is it what I meant to say really?’
  • ‘Have I found the best way to convey it?’

Attack you work as an editor and reader

Young writers who aren’t yet published often fall behind when it comes to editing your own manuscripts. Editors and critiques comb through your work for the smallest mistakes that can dreadfully pull you down but being your own editor helps you to discover new techniques, learn more self editing tools and have an insight into the revision process. In the webinar titled: “Be Your Own Editor: Tips for self editing your own work”  Instructor Harold Underdown will teach you the techniques he uses to self edit his own work as an editor.

Procrastination

“Don’t put off until tomorrow, what you can do today” a wise person once said those words to me.

Well technically Benjamin Franklin said it but over time it resonated within me. In my younger years I certainly didn’t understand what they meant but after taking three years to finish my first book I came to understand the negative effects of procrastination.

  • Procrastination promotes more stress
  • Procrastination makes your memory work harder
  • Procrastination actually takes more time

Be confident with your work

The most important ingredient any author needs to write smart is self confidence . Its easy to feel inspired by the work of others but to value your own work and see a vast amount of creative vibe is truly important. On the other hand isolation will only bring introvertism which is not a road to follow since the encouraging words of fellow writers like yourself helps to boost confidence levels and bring forth positive thoughts.

All this to say that there is no universal way of writing since every writer is unique and exhibit different qualities but these tips are sure to help you succeed on your path to being an accomplished writer.

5 Poetic Devices That Will Actually Make Your Like better

Listen,

You wanna be a better writer, right well let me tell you a secret that will make your life better.

Only a fraction of the poetic devices have been exploited by some of the world’s greatest poets and writers but greater minds have come to realize that the fraction rarely used has a greater effect on the minds of people who interpret poems in their own way. So my job today is to enlighten my now eager young writers on some of poetic devices that can change the way they see life and even make it better.

Lets begin!!

Couplets – This literary device is found at the end of sonnets to add versatility to one’s work. It gives a surprising comments that reflects the entire piece. Couplets can be written individually or included in longer poems using other poetic devices along with it. To add a comical effect to life couplets are often used to show life from a different perspective. Here is an example from Lateefah16

Wonder walks

We walked across the island so white

Like timeless waves who wanted to stop and explore

Our foot steps in the sand so white

Even stars at night couldn’t sparkle this bright

The smell of the ocean salt

Touch my nose with intention to assault

The grainy feel run rough as a bike

Who knew sugar and sand aren’t exactly alike

The cool ocean breeze crash against rocks

‘While clouds block sun and smooth yachts dock

The seagulls screaming to go to the sea

At first touch you’re already chilli

But as the sun starts to set

The sky turns fiery red, bright orange and hot pink you bet!

Allusion – “When I was running late this morning I thought Barry Allen would ever have to run being the fastest man alive” Deeptanshu Prashad.

A writer would use allusion to get across a point minus the unnecessary details. With the intent that the reader understands the event being referenced. In other words a writer indirectly making mention to something either by way of metaphor or simile.

Synecdoche – A rarely used device in poetry but very important. Often used to describe part of something to represent the whole thing. It can also use an entire thing to represent part of it. Metonymy often said as the same thing but they are slightly different since synecdoche would use ‘wheels’ because it is part of a car ‘wheels’ would stand as the whole car. Whereas metonymy is a ‘substituting word’ used to stand in for another word or for that off the thing meant.  For example ‘Bread – refers to food or money’ or ‘Glasses – refers to spectacles’

Wow you must be thinking this secret is very big but I hope you’re following along with me so that we can share this wonderful bundle of knowledge with you. So if you’re ready lets keep going!!

Satire – Writers use this techniques by way of humor, exaggeration and irony to ridicule and/or expose a person, country, or the entire world.

For example Satire in real life is used in cartoons characters to expose politicians and present day actions. Television shows such as Family Guy, The Simpsons and The office.

Just one more to go, hope I haven’t lost you yet 🙂

Allegory – A moral person can be easily thought using Allegory in which symbols are used. Most times involves characters and/or events that stand for an abstract idea in the form of a stray. This archaic term is used in daily life but is often seen in debates in schools, politics etc. Adding allegory to work evokes meaning and generates layers as the writer would express his/her own moral view on a specific topic. For example in the Hunger Games Series we see a political allegory that makes a statement of modern society (‘The Obsession with reality Tv’)

What am I missing here? Let me know in the comments an I’ll add it in!!!!

What were the first writing tools?

The best part of moving forward is being able to remember where you came from and value that history. Which brings me to today’s topic “What were the first writing tools?”

As young writers we are so inclined to create the next best seller that we often forget how important roots are. Be reminded that learning of the past will keep your mind opened to possibilities and realities of what made the past so iconic.

Imagine if there were no tools to write the world’s greatest ideas? What if those ideas were forgotten and never recorded in history?

Thats how important writing tools were to history and they still are to present day. Even though educationally inclined people have created more advanced ways of documenting there complete oeuvres manual tools have stood the test of time.

Around 3000 BC the scribes were the first to use thin reed brushes to write on papyrus scrolls.

reed-pen-size-1-fine-

As the times aged the Romans used a metal stylus in which they scribed into thin sheets of wax.

It was until in the 1790’s pencil lead was invented by the Australians and French. After a great amount of Technological advances roller ball pens that were invented in the 1980’s preformed with improvements as time aged.

I believe that opening one’s self to such inspiring information is important when as a young writer you are sharing your work to give feeling and motivation to the readers.
